Place for chemistry
The chemical cluster of Port of Moerdijk, which is concentrated on Industrial Park Moerdijk (IPM), is strong and extensive. The area is directly connected to the chemical clusters of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Vlissingen and the Ruhr area via the pipeline network. The connections via water (sea and inland shipping) and rail are also excellent.
In Moerdijk there is still room for growth for chemicals and petrochemicals, provided the new activity is circular.
Many location benefits at IPM
IPM is fully equipped for chemical and chemical-related companies. The facilities for rapid transhipment and transport are excellent. A large number of maintenance companies and logistics service providers focus specifically on the chemical sector. There are extensive options for tank storage and tank cleaning, which creates space for entrepreneurship.
Various companies can supply industrial gases and provide specialized services.
The IPM is located directly to the water and offers optimal infrastructure for transport by water (shortsea shipping and inland shipping), by road, by rail and via the extensive pipeline network.
30ha available for circular chemistry
We have around 55 hectares available for chemical and chemical-related companies and activities at IPM. There is room for growth and also space for use in terms of the environment: companies in the highest environmental category are allowed to establish themselves here.
We do apply strong circular selection criteria for companies that are interested in establishing themselves at IPM. In addition, cluster strengthening options are explicitly examined.
Exchange of residual flows
Companies at the IPM find each other easily; synergy is constantly arising here. For example, companies exchange basic raw materials such as ethylene oxide, ethylene and propylene, and they opt for the logistics bundling of chemical products. Residual flows find their way to new users. Where steam, CO2 or hot water is waste for one person, it is a raw material for another.
Companies meet at the Industry Round Table that we regularly organise.
